Dear John and Kelly Travolta:
Our thoughts, prayers, and hopes for you to find peace/understanding go out to you (and to your entire family) for the loss of your child. There are “billions of words”, contained in various languages, but none can come close to “expressing” all of the emotions/thoughts that you must be enduring. I am truly sorry for your loss and I just wanted you to know.
Also, I am saddened that your beliefs (i.e Scientology) are being “questioned” and/or “disrespected”. I am (personally) a Christan and my faith in God knows no bounds. Nonetheless I respect your beliefs and I am sorry that there are those who have chosen to bring your beliefs into this…tragedy. Anyones “true and sincere” spiritual path(s) should never be “minimized” and/or subjected to ridicule.
By all appearances, and over the years, everything I have read – everything I have watched including interviews of you and your wife – and everything that my wife (who is a LIFE-LONG rabid fan) “enlightens” me about confirms that you are (indiviudally and collectively) wonderful/caring/loving people and exceptional parents.
They say that “a picture says a thousand words” and I agree. I also believe that in those moments, which are candid and “unscripted”, that our…”soul” is exposed and captured as well. It is clear that the photos of you, your wife, and your family “expose” the (real and blessed) love that you have…for each other.
It is not meant for us to understand WHY things happen such as the loss of a child. However, I do believe that we all should be given our time to “mourn/reflect/question” and that the “timeframe” should ONLY be “determined”…by ones’ own heart and soul. It is our hope that you will find some “comfort” in the fact that your son, like all children, was (truly) a “gift”…from God.
I regret that others had added “salt into the wound” by (apparently) attempting to “blackmail’ you. It is truly a shame that you have had to take time away from your “grief”, and that of your family, to spend time/energy/resources in dealing with those of “adverse intent”.
In all likelyhood I will never have the chance “face to face” to tell you, your wife, and your family these words that I have typed thus far. Therefore I am appreciative that the Internet, and www.wordpress.com, allows me this forum whereby I can convey these thoughts…indirectly to you.
Far too often we take things for granted and I (personally and professionally) am guilty of this as well. I have always believed that the most important thing(s) that you can give to another is your time, your honesty, your patience, your life experiences, your “inner soul”, and your heart. I also believe that the “bond”, that is only created by true love, can never be “broken”. You (obviously) loved son and you do love your family and it is a wonderful thing…indeed.
May God bless you both and may there come a time when the “awful pain” is replaced and the emphasis is restored to all the time, memories, love, and lessons that you shared.
May you continue to have moments of joy, and love, knowing that your son remains in your heart…and will always be.
Know that for every “camera, article, etc.” that you are “exposed to”, due to your “fame and name” that there are (literally) hundreds of those (like us) that have the utmost respect and appreciation for you and what you have allowed to be “shared” with us.
Take care and God bless.
